Mr DBS

A long time ago, a couple of fellas just wanted to resell some Arc'teryx jackets on a really cool Facebook group called The Dead Bird Society. It was a gathering of folkx, lonely divorced-divorcing dads, Asian Gooners, DARC customers, and the occasional mil or leo guy just trying to buy a new coat.

These two fellas were close friends of mine, got me the hook-up and IN to this VIP fan club of an outdoor clothing store. I don't think Arc'teryx expected to see grown men (and one or two women thirst-trapping) in a Facebook group, posting photos of themselves wearing $800 jackets in a Target parking lot, braced for a gust of wind or light drizzle.

Now, Paul, the TRUE AND HONEST creator of DBS — really enjoyed showing off his watch collection, jackets, and firearms to his fellow dead birds. Going to the mall? Bird time. Oh and dont think for a second hes a poser. He made generous donations to Special Operations foundations (no taxes filed since 2014). That's a little off topic, it's been so long since ive checked in on him to see if hes still posting range photos looking like a Navy Seal, it really doesn't matter to me much anymore.

Anyway, we all got kicked from the group. Can you BELIEVE IT? Apparently we didn't follow the rules no trolls, no airsofters, and absolutely NO!!!!! reselling jackets below market value!!!! The admin team made this crystal clear in their DBS CODE OF CONDUCT: no piece of LEAF or any other Arc'teryx line would be sold for less than its worth, as they considered it a devaluation of the brand.

Now I know what you're thinking. Take the L. Sell it on eBay. Move on. Sure, tough guy, except Paul and his cronies tracked down my friend's information through Facebook and, with the help of a company insider, got him banned from the brick and mortar outlet stores too. It was a power play, pure and simple. It worked. We were PNG'd.

So I did what any sane and rational person would do. I made a fake profile, dressed it up like a pistol brace owning AR lover of all things gortex, and talked my way back into the group. Then I created the public Dead Bird Society Facebook page (they didn't have one) — and started reposting screenshots like this:

Paul 1 Paul 2

Eventually the leaks from the ILLUSTRIOUS and HIGHLY SECRET DBS Facebook group became too much for Paul to ignore. He reported the page. So obviously next COA is to get the domain to this website instead. As soon as it went live, I spun up a Twitter account, and it quickly became less about Arc'teryx drama and more of an outlet for personal projects I was working on in my free time. The occasional trolling of Paul's Instagram aside, I haven't looked back. This really isn't about Gore-Tex jackets anymore.
